Meeting called to order at 3:01PM:  Total present:  85 (83 members and 2 guests)

New Members:  Claire Bush, Randy Gilday, De Michael Haggard, Alice Kaufman

Minutes:  No corrections or additions to December minutes

Financial Report:  Monika Barshney read the financial report; accepted as written

Veteran’s Coordinator (Ron Vangas) Corner
  • Briefed on shipments for Operation Troop Care (donations can be dropped off at the Post)
Commander’s (Dennis Scuffham) Corner:
  • Reminded membership to pay 2011 dues
  • Discussed having representatives from ALR/SAL/AUX at e-board meetings
  • Advised that Mid Winter Forum is Feb 4-6 in Arkansas City
Co-Director’s (Greg Bauer) Corner:
  • Read thank you’s from the VA, Fisher House Foundation, Faith Comes by Hearing, Sean Lowery, Sisk Middle School, Post 22 (Marion), and Kansas Veterans Home
Fundraising Chairperson (Asonjia Stewart)
  • Pancake and Sausage Feed – March 19 – pending flyer
Ladies Auxiliary (Carol Benson)
  • T-Shirt sale fundraiser - $12 & $14 – deadline January 22
  • Mardi Gras fundraiser – March 5 – details to follow
Director’s (Doug Lehman) Corner and Old Business:
  • Terry Houck spoke on Gold Star Mother’s plaque – price reduced as Jerry (Sawblade) Armstrong doing some of the woodwork.  Motion made by Ben Roloff to split total cost between ALR and PG.  Motion carried.
  • Terry also mentioned plaques being developed thanking our local law enforcement
  • Doug reminded everyone that ALR Scholarship deadline is March 1.  Briefed on Jonathan Blank fundraiser at Augusta High School on January 16, ride-in (Marines interested flying Marine flag contact Kenny White), and final planning meeting January 12 at Post 406 in Andover.
  • Brock Hayes spoke on Jonathan Blank fundraiser being worked with Wichita Thunder
  • Doug advised $251.15 was left from Operation Star Tree.  Consensus was to obligate for next Christmas.
New Business/Discussion Items:
  • Our condolences to Barb Salmeron and family of our dear friend Jim (Pyro) Daily – services pending
  • Terry Houck and John Kimball spoke on MG Bunting’s retirement and presentation of certificate on behalf of ALR 136
  • Terry Houck presented Patriot Guard donations from Colonel Osborne and United Methodist Church and spoke on upcoming Patriot Guard mission for US Army Sgt Eric Nettleton – details to follow
  • Judy Modlin talked about her meeting with Eric Nettleton prior to his deployment and making a bear for his fiancĂ© Ashley– showed numerous pictures
  • Doug Lehman discussed Honor Flight Benefit by Prairie Rose Chuckwagon on January 29.  Motion made by Pat Thacker to donate $650.00, cost to fly one WWII Veteran to Washington DC.  Motion carried.

  • Doug Lehman recognized Officers leaving office and thanked them for all the support.
  • Ron Herndon made a special presentation from the membership to Doug Lehman and Greg Bauer for their two years of service to the ALR.
