Veteran’s Coordinator (John Metz)

  • Next Operation Troop Care mailing to be in next couple of weeks. Don’t have near enough items to fill six boxes. Please drop off items at Post as soon as possible.
  • Next Banana Run will be Dec 16th. Need ideas for what to do this year for Christmas gifts for the vets

Co-Director’s (Jerry Berry) Corner:

  • Read thank you from VA for our last banana run
  • Read thank you from Gwen Johnson (Volunteer coordinator with Heartland Hospice). Anyone wishing to volunteer to help with Vets contact Ron for info.

Commander’s (Rick Babinger) Corner:

  • Read resignation letter from Commander Jake Defrees who is stepping down as Commander due to health issues.
  • Need some one to step up as Vice Commander who is willing to take over the Commanders job in April.
  • Auction meeting Friday the 14th at 7 PM
  • Auxiliary chili feed and pie auction to be held Oct 13th
  • Halloween party to feature strobe horseshoes and glow in the dark volleyball
  • Need to get back the way we used to be with Friday night dinners (the food is now good again) and no more petty differences. We are all Brothers, Sisters and friends, and we need to act as such.
  • Lori Metz is taking over keeping our web site up to date. Go to AL136.com for a lot of up to date info

S.A.L Commander’s (Jerry Armstrong) Corner:

  • Still have tickets for 2 pig halves. $10.00 each. Proceeds go to building fund. See Jerry Berry for tickets codirector@alr136.com

Director’s (Ron Vangas) Corner:

  • Briefed on the following events:

1. ALR 136 in charge of setting flags for Patriot Day, Sept 11th

2. Homeless Vet funeral for Patrick Dunagan will be Wed Sept 12th at Resthaven

3. Mulvane Police and EMS toy run is Sept 15th

4. Welcome Home for Chesters brother Lester Sunday Sept 16th at Darrel and Gails home

5. McConnell Air Show is Sept 29th and 30th

6. Veterans Appreciation set for Oct 6th. Planning meeting Friday Sept 14th at 6 PM

7. Oct 18th thru 22nd moving Viet Nam Wall will be in Valley Center

8. 2013 ALR dues are now being accepted (Legion, SAL, or Auxiliary dues must be up to date to be eligble for ALR membership)

  • Kevin Conover mentioned that the Winfield Veterans Home will have a steak dinner for the residents on Oct 13th if any one is interested in coming down and visiting with the Vets
  • Wichita Toy Run has been changed to the Delano District on Nov 4th. Jarhead will check to see if we can get a designated parking area
