Guest Speaker: Betty Jean Pulliam-Read letter from family of her friend, Charles DeHaven, that we provided a flag line for at his funeral. Enclosed was also a check for @200.00

Awards:

Presented certificates of appreciation from the Mayor of Valley Center for the volunteers who helped with the Moving Wall: Ron Herndon, Jerry Kirk, Dennis Scuffham, Betty Jean Pulliam, Terry Houck, Dave Meeth, and Mark Galvan

Treasurers (Diana Nelson) Corner:

  • Treasurer read the financial report : accepted as read

Chaplains Corner (Ron Herndon) Sick Call update:

  • John DeArmond (Little John) going to Mayo Clinic, Jake Defrees is recouping, Wild Bill Logan recouping from back surgery, Richard Carpenter cancer is back, two members from Chapter 24 McPherson. Keep our member Mike Vore in your prayers who is deployed.

Veteran’s Coordinator (John Metz)

  • Thanked everyone who attended the Christmas Banana Run (Note: Thanks to Richard Ballinger who went back and purchased additional candy so that we had enough to fill the sacks)

Co-Director’s (Jerry Berry) Corner:

  • Read thank you from VA for the Banana Run
  • Read thank you from Judy Rokiski who’s son we did a send off a few years back. She enclosed a check for $200.00

Commander’s (Rick Babinger) Corner:

  • Friday Jan18th, Karaoke from 7 to 10 PM
  • Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 3rd, on the BIG screen. Bring a snack
  • Building fund stands at $73,000.00

S.A.L Commander’s (Jerry Armstrong) Corner:

  • Tickets on sale for AR15 gun raffle. Only 300 tickets being sold at $10.00 each. Drawing will be on Feb 10th.

Ladies Auxiliary Corner :

  • There will be a pie auction in February

Fundraising Chairperson:

  • No Report

Patriot Guard (Terry Houck) Corner:

· Read thank you letter from Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller for supporting the two officer funerals

· Announced that Gary ‘Hayman’ Donaldson is now a Road Guard

Director’s (Ron Vangas) Corner:

  • Briefed on the following events

1. Chapter 136 responsible for setting flags at the VA for Martin Luther King day on Monday 21 Jan

2. Feb 1st – 3rd , Winter Forum in Hays

3. Our 5th annual Poker Run coming up in May. Start thinking about auction items.

· Web site service fee due $125.00 (half by Legion, half by ALR) Motion by Rick Babinger to remit $62.50 for the service to John Wilson, seconded by Jerry Ward. Motion carried.

· Nominations for 2013 ALR 136 Officers were closed. Since there was only one nomination for each office, Buz Nye made a motion to accept the nominated for the respected postions. Seconded by Jerry Ward. Motion carried. The following officers were sworn in by Commander Rick Babinger:

Floor opened to membership:

  • Kevin Conover thanked everyone on behalf of the Winfield Veterans Home for the Christmas gift of benches for their day room.
  • Doug Lehman stated that he and Greg Bauer will be riding in the Poker Run this year and that other people need to step up and help.
  • Secretary Connie Berry is taking orders for shirts. You can call or e-mail her with your order.

  • Newlywed Rob Brown urged members to bring guests to the Legion events and to also be mindful of them and any guests at the Post. Treat them with respect and show them that we are happy they are there.
