Treasurers (Diana Nelson) Corner:

  • Treasurer read the financial report : accepted as read

Chaplains Corner (Ron Herndon) Sick Call update:

  • Jarhead having radiation treatments for throat cancer
  • Keep Richard Carpenter in your prayers.

Veteran’s Coordinator (John Metz) :

  • Next Banana Run will be August 4th
  • Received an e-mail from Mike Vore thanking us for the Girl Scout cookies

Co-Director’s (Jerry Berry) Corner:

  • Read thank you from VA for our Banana Run treats
  • Read letter from McConnell Enlisted Spouses’ Club for our donation to Operation Surprise

Commander’s (RG Resser) Corner:

  • ABC incident at Post might affect our Poker Run
  • Garage sale on May 4th. Still need items. Make sure you mark prices on all items before you bring.

Also need volunteers to help day of garage sale.

S.A.L Commander’s (Jerry Armstrong) Corner:

  • Hand gun will be raffled off on June 16th
  • Elections were held: Commander – Jerry Armstrong; Vice Commander – Dan Hobbs; Finance Officer – Gregg Bauer; Adjutant – Dennis Mcdonough; Sgt at Arms – Steve Coberly; Chaplain – Buz Nye

Ladies Auxiliary President’s (Lori Metz) Corner :

  • Making lap blankets for the Veterans

Fundraising Chairperson:

  • No Report

Patriot Guard and Road Captain’s (Darkhorse) Corner:

  • Nothing to report

Director’s (Ron Vangas) Corner:

  • Gave the Esprit De Corps, Mulvane High School, a certificate on 5 April for their participation in the Christmas Banana Run
  • Did a ride in to the Mulvane Grade School on 12 April. Presented the 4th Grade students with little flags. Presented school with certificate and “We Support our Troops” flag for the Veterans Day cards and the message on the fence.
  • Sunday April 21st we will pick up Patriot Guard Highway
  • Wed April 24th Honor Flight departs at 6:25 AM and returns Fri the 26th at 4:45 PM
  • ALR State Rally in Concordia on June 21 to 23rd
  • Cripple Creek Salute to Veterans Aug 16, 17, 18

Old Business:

  • Scholarship – Three way tie

Holly Brizendine – Father is member of our Post

Katherine Ehninger – Granddaughter of ALR member Bruce Simmons

McKayla Poss – Daughter of ALR member Jeff Poss and Granddaughter of ALR members Viki and Duane Kalous

  • Motion made by Doug Lehman to award a $1000.00 scholarship to each of the girls. Seconded by Jerry Ward. After discussion motion carried.

New Business/Discussion Items:

  • Jerry Berry gave update on Poker Run. We still need prizes. We will need volunteers to man doors to bar. According to variance from ABC, no alcohol will be allowed outside the bar area.

Floor opened to membership:

  • Rick Babinger needs volunteers for Memorial day services. Susan Lee volunteered to be in uniform for the Soldiers Cross ceremony. Request for 15 riders will be sent out at a later date.
  • Deb Lynch reported on the needs of Veterans in the classroom at WSU. Professors went through sensitivity training in dealing with the Veterans
  • Steve Huckaby is having a Karoke night at Post on Friday, 19 April at 8:00 PM

50/50: Collected $104.00 - half ($52.00) won by Darkhorse (Donated to the building fund)

Next Meeting: 19 May at 3:00 PM (Second Sunday, 12th is Mothers Day)
