Veteran’s Coordinator (John Metz)

  • Will be sending out packages this week
  • Next Banana Run will be Dec 16th. Need ideas for what to do this year for Christmas gifts for the vets

Co-Director’s (Jerry Berry) Corner:

  • Read thank you from Donna Sambolich for honoring her husband at his funeral
  • Gave report on shirts: Short sleeve-$15.00, Long sleeve-$20.00, Henleys, sweatshirts, dress shirts-$30.00. Most any color available except just black or white for dress shirts. Contact Jerry or Connie to place order.

Commander’s (Rick Babinger) Corner:

  • Halloween Party Friday, Oct 26th with Matt Engles Band from 9 to midnight. Bring a snack dish and wear your costume
  • Nov 3rd, Chris Cakes of Wichita, pancake feed from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. All you can eat for $6.00. Open to the public. Bring your friends.
  • Nov 9th Trent Chriswell will be singing at the Post
  • Nov 11 Veterans Day ceremony after the ALR meeting. Auxiliary will furnish meal to veterans at no charge. There will also be an initiation of new Legion members and a flag a retirement.
  • Still need someone to step up and fill the Vice Commanders seat. They need to be willing to assume the Commanders job next year. Contact Rick for info: 316-796-4370

S.A.L Commander’s (Jerry Armstrong) Corner: Ron Herndon reporting

  • A lady from Kingman won half of the pig and our own Deb Lynch won the other half. 260 of the 300 tickets were sold

Ladies Auxiliary Corner (Gail Hacker): Lori Metz reporting

  • Thanked everyone who attended the Chili feed and pie auction. $762.00 was collected for the bldg fund.

Fundraising Chairperson (Asonjia Stewart) Corner:

  • No news

Patriot Guard (Terry Houck) Corner:

  • Talked about his experience at the Moving Wall in Valley Center. He and Jerry Kirk escorted school children. Pat Thacker, Dennis Scuffham, Ron Herndon, Sam Langhofer, and he guarded the wall Friday night. Our member and Gold Star Mother was a keynote speaker at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
  • He will RC Wichita Toy Run on Nov 4th while Jarhead will be recuperating from surgery. We will fly all Marine flags and Jarhead will be there in spirit. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Director’s (Ron Vangas) Corner:

  • Briefed on the following events
  1. Wichita Toy run scheduled for Nov 4th in the Delano district. Will try to get a buffet breakfast prior to leaving for Wichita
  2. We have been asked by the Douglas Schools to participate again this year in their Veterans Day ceremony on Nov 12th
  3. Wreaths Across America is scheduled for Dec 15th at Winfield Veterans Cemetery.
  4. Dues are now being taken for 2013 (Legion, Aux, or SAL dues need to be up to date)
  5. Oct 27th Sumner County Toy Run (Belle Plaine to Wellington VFW)
  6. Sunday Nov 18th Patriot Guard Highway cleanup.

New Business/Discussion Items:

  • $500.00 was donated to Wreaths across America this year for the Winfield Veterans Cemetery. Ron Herndon made a motion to add $500.00 to obligated monies for next year. Jerry Ward seconded. Motion passed.
  • Jerry Ward made a motion to add $500.00 to obligated monies for next years Mulvane PD/EMS Toy Run. Rick Johnson seconded. Motion passed.
  • Thanksgiving dinner for the Warrior Transition Battallion at Fort Riley. Jarhead made a motion to buy needed items not exceed $500.00. Seconded by Denny McDonough. Motion carried.
  • Jarhead brought up doing something again for the Winfield Veterans Home for Christmas. Kevin Conover volunteered to chair a committee to see what is needed and coordinate with Post 10. Committee members: Ben Swisher, John Metz, Jerry Ward
  • For those that ordered Pop Woods memory bars, I now have them. They are $3.00 each.
  • Denny McDonough represented ALR 136 and the State of Kansas in a motorcycle competition in Indianapolis while on the Legacy Run. Congratulations to Denny for taking first place. He did ALR 136 and the State of Kansas proud. He presented the ALR with a plaque.
